buildnz designex Canterbury has attracted top industry suppliers from all over New Zealand and overseas as well, filling up the CBS Arena in Addington, Christchurch, to full capacity.
All will be showing construction trade visitors the latest innovations and solutions to help fast-track a quality rebuild of Christchurch.

As well as learning about rebuild projects and supplier products, trade visitors will have the opportunity to win some amazing prizes, including a Ford Ranger XLT Double Cab ute (what tradie doesn’t want a brand new ute!) and a Samsung Galaxy S5 per day from 2degrees.

The exhibition runs from Thursday, July 31 to Saturday, August 2, 2014. Prospective visitors can register for free at www.canterburybuildnz.co.nz.

Among the exhibitors is Alosun and Aloaqua, international brands committed to helping build a resilient city and sustainable country using the latest in proven technology from Europe and Asia.

“We offer a consultancy service for architects, developers and engineers needing to integrate green technology into their new builds or redevelopments,” according to spokeswoman Gaylene Barnes.

“Alosun will be presenting the latest in solar technology direct from the InterSolar June 2014 Exhibition in Munich. We will be launching some exciting new products alongside our existing Microinverter Grid-Connected Solar System,” Ms Barnes says.

“Alosun can help design the right system to provide the most efficient solutions for rainwater and grey water management in private, public or commercial construction projects.

“Visitors who bring their projects to us during the show will receive free rainwater and grey water management specification and design, and the same for lighting solutions. Bring in your development plans and we will provide free street light design and specification.”

Another international name is 3M, the global innovation company that never stops inventing, which will be showcasing a wide range of products from personal protective equipment, fire protection fluids, locating and marking, right through to some of the company’s core adhesive tapes.

“3M provides an array of worker safety and building solutions for the construction industry,” 3M’s Joselyn Tan says.

“At buildnz designex Canterbury, 3M will launch several convenient respirator kits designed to provide effective protection against inhalation of asbestos fibres and dust.

“Other 3M products that will be showcased include 3M Novec Fire Protection fluid that enables you to protect your critical assets without leaving any residue. This clean extinguishing agent transforms from a liquid to gas on release, and has zero ozone depletion.

“3M Dynate Locating and Marking systems enable you to quickly and accurately identify underground assets, plus you can interface with GPS/GIS mapping systems.

“For more than 30 years, industries worldwide have been using 3M VHB Tapes for high holding power in static and dynamic loads. These tapes absorb shock and distribute stress evenly for bonding power that helps eliminate mechanical fastening in many jobs. On our stand you can come and test your strength with 3M VHB tapes.

“3M All Weather Flashing Tape was engineered to increase productivity while solving the most critical flashing problems. The acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive sticks and stays stuck to seal around windows, doors and other openings, as well as for sealing joints in rigid air barriers.

“Extremely fast, clean and easy, 3M Extreme Sealing Tape is a single-coated, pressure-sensitive adhesive tape designed for difficult sealing applications. It is extremely fast and easy to apply, with no drying time and no dripping or oozing to clean up.

“This tape easily conforms over contours, edges, rivets and screw heads, and can be painted to match adjoining surfaces.”

Innovation is also the name of the game for Hometech, especially when it comes to interior lighting, Hometech’s Elysia Johnston says.

“A great new product that visitors will see on our stand is the Solatube Smart LED System, a revolutionary 24-hour home lighting solution that combines advanced LED technology with state-of-the-art daylighting for unparalleled energy efficiency.

It also operates automatically, lasts longer than traditional electric lights, and is virtually maintenance-free.

“Another is Fakro roof windows and skylights, and Fakro attic stairs. We will have these products on the stand for people to have a close look at. They are high quality, European-made products. We will also be offering great show-only deals on these.”

A brand new exhibitor at any buildnz designex is global brand Otis, who says choosing the Canterbury event is a testament to how important this show is to the rebuild.

“This is our first time participating at this type of exhibition, and a unique opportunity for the trade to speak with the manufacturer,” Otis’ Tim Gunther says.

“Otis is the world’s largest manufacturer of elevators, escalators and moving walkways, and we’re excited to be launching a unique new lift interior design service for lifts of any brand, no matter whether new or existing.

“This includes options not seen before in New Zealand which can make over a tired lift cost-effectively and with minimal disruption.”
